My Services
& What I Can Support You With

As a Person-centred counsellor, I believe that truly listening to your story and walking alongside you in your journey is essential. Through a trusting therapeutic relationship, I provide a safe, comfortable, and confidential space where all parts of you are welcome. Together, we will work at a pace that feels right for you, fostering healthy emotional and psychological growth.

I also integrate different approaches within my person-centred work. Sometimes, words alone may not feel enough, and if you express a need to explore therapy in a different way, we can adapt. This might involve using art, creative materials, or bringing something personal—such as notes, letters, or photographs—that holds meaning for you. You may also have a preference for specific therapeutic models, such as Rewind Trauma Therapy, Walking and Talking Therapy, or CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). Whatever your needs, I am open to discussing and shaping our sessions to suit what works best for you.

As a member of the BACP, I adhere to its ethical framework, which I will outline in our initial meeting and contract.

I have extensive experience providing counselling in person, online, and via telephone, offering all these approaches in my private, comfortable, and confidential therapy room. This is situated in Bristol, near the River Avon, which you can view here.

Counselling Sessions

Counselling sessions are conducted one-on-one. However, when working with young people, their first session may include a trusted adult if they prefer. This is always discussed beforehand during the initial meeting and contracting process.

I support both young people and adults with a range of challenges, including:

Abuse, ADHD/ADD, addictions, anger management, anxiety, bereavement, child-related concerns, depression, eating disorders, health issues, infertility, menopause, OCD, pregnancy-related matters, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, self-harm, sex-related concerns, sexuality, spirituality, stress, trauma, and work-related issues.

"Emma provided me with excellent care through her counselling whilst I navigated some seriously tough life experiences. Her attentiveness, reassurance and measured contributions were what I needed to move past what was affecting me. In the space she held for me, I found my voice and confidence in expressing my needs and have carried that on since, living a much happier and healthier version of myself" NW

Walking & Talking Therapy

Walking and talking therapy, also known as outdoor therapy, is a form of counselling that takes place in an outdoor setting rather than a traditional therapy room. During these sessions, the client and therapist walk side by side, which can create a more relaxed and less formal atmosphere. This approach combines the therapeutic benefits of counselling with the positive effects of being in nature and engaging in physical activity.

Walking and talking therapy can help individuals feel more at ease, especially if they find conventional therapy settings intimidating or confining. The act of walking can also encourage a natural flow of conversation and help reduce stress and anxiety. Additionally, being outdoors provides sensory experiences—like fresh air, natural light, and the sounds of nature—that can enhance the therapeutic process.

"Walking is man's best medicine." – Hippocrates, emphasizing the therapeutic benefits of walking.
